Liquid Process Filtration: Pleated Depth, Membrane, and High-Flow Cartridge Solutions

Pleated Depth Cartridge Filtration

Pleated depth cartridges combine the high surface area of pleated media with depth filtration to deliver superior dirt-holding capacity and longer service life. They are available in polypropylene, glass fibre, and PTFE media to suit water, chemical, and food-grade applications. Carsons Group supplies pleated depth cartridges in 10″, 20″, 30″, and 40″ lengths, in standard and high-flow formats.

Membrane Cartridge Filtration

Membrane cartridges provide absolute-rated filtration, typically from 0.1 to 1.0 micron, and are used where complete removal of bacteria, particulate, or haze-causing agents is required. PVDF, PES, nylon, and cellulose acetate membranes are available to suit process chemistry requirements. These cartridges are used in pharmaceutical manufacturing, beverage bottling, and semiconductor fabrication.

High-Flow Cartridge Systems

High-flow cartridges reduce the number of elements required for a given flow rate, simplifying filter housings and reducing capital and maintenance costs. Outside-in flow design and large-diameter pleated media enable individual cartridges to handle flow rates up to 75 m³/h. Carsons Group supplies high-flow cartridges for municipal water treatment, industrial process water, and pre-filtration ahead of membrane systems.

Resin-Bonded Cartridges

Resin-bonded depth cartridges are manufactured by bonding fibres with a thermosetting resin to produce a rigid, graded density structure. They offer excellent compatibility with a wide range of fluids and are an economical choice for general industrial process filtration. Available in nominal ratings from 1 to 100 micron.

Filter Vessels and Housing Selection

The correct filter housing is essential for safe and effective cartridge filtration. Single-element and multi-element housings in 316L stainless steel, polypropylene, and carbon steel are available with a range of inlet/outlet configurations, vent and drain connections, and pressure ratings. Carsons Group assists clients to specify and size filter vessels to match flow rates, operating pressures, and space constraints.

Liquid Bag Filtration

For high-flow bulk liquid clarification, filter bags provide a cost-effective alternative to cartridge systems. Felt and mesh bags capture particles from 1 to 1000 micron in single-bag and multi-bag vessel configurations. Carsons Group supplies replacement bags in polypropylene, polyester, and nylon to fit standard and custom housing sizes.
